The 2011 Up And Coming Stakes will run at Warwick Farm Racecourse tomorrow August 20, 2011, and here we have put together the best tips and betting information for the race.
Our tip to win the Up And Coming Stakes 2011 is Paul Messara’s Rekindled Alliance, who is paying odds of $7 to win the race at Luxbet.
Rekindled Alliance will be having his second career run after winning his first start in impressive style while on debut at Canterbury last Wednesday August 10, 2011.
Our tip to finish second, and the current favourite to win the 2011 Up And Coming Stakes, is Ron Leeman’s Manawanui.
Manawanui is presently paying odds of $2.30 at Luxbet.
Leeman believes that Manawanui can win tomorrow’s race, despite lacking some residual fitness.
“He’s never been what I would call 100 per cent hard fit and I don’t want that until we get close to Melbourne, otherwise there will be nothing left of him,” Leeman said.
“But he’s fit enough to win this and I think he will win.
“It’s only going to be bad luck in running or if the track gets too heavy.
“He’s won on slow so he gives the indication he should handle it.
“He has won on a slow but that was at Canterbury which handles the wet weather a bit better than Warwick Farm which does get a bit boggy at times.
“There are some very handy horses in the race that he will have to beat but I am pretty confident.”
Manawanui won his most recent trial at Rosehill by an incredible ten lengths on August 15, 2011.
“(Jockey) Glynn (Schofield) said he just did it himself,” Leeman said.
“He shook him up at the 600m, he came around the bend three in front and then kept on cruising.
“I just couldn’t get over how he kept on moving away from them.”
The trainer believes that the three-year-old Oratorio gelding will be competitive over longer distances later in the carnival.
“I think he will get 2000m because he will settle,” he said.
“Two of his runs he came from the rear of the field.
“His mother won over a mile and his sire was a mile-2000m horse.”
Manawanui is likely to be aimed at the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes at Randwick Racecourse on October 9, before heading down to Melbourne for the remainder of the spring.
“At this stage we are looking to get through Saturday and then determine where to go because there are a number of pathways we can take,” Leeman said.
“He is quite versatile as he has raced back in two races and forward in the other so he is very adaptable, but the plan is to be midfield, but plans can always change.”
For third place, we are tipping Paul Messara’s Double Ranga, who is paying horse racing odds of $11 to win the 2011 Up And Coming Stakes at Luxbet.
