This Saturday Warwick Farm Racecourse is set to host their sole feature race meeting of the coveted Sydney Spring Racing Carnival, Warwick Stakes Day.

As part of the elite line-up on the card, three Group status events will take place including the $125,000 Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes (1200m) for three-year-old colts and geldings.

The 2010 Up And Coming Stakes has attracted 18 quality nominations including a number of top spring contenders.

Sure to dominate the Sportsbet markets if they run in Saturday’s showdown is the Clarry Conners-trained Decision Time.

Foreplay gelding Decision Time was one of last season’s top two-year-olds, their autumn campaign culminating with a classy second place finish to Crystal Lily in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m).

Decision Time, who has won four of his seven career starts for $964,650 in prizemoney to date, enjoyed a promising first-up spring start running third in the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1000m) at Randwick a fortnight ago.

Also one of the early favourites for the premier Sydney Spring Carnival races, the $1 million Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill on August 28, Decision Time is paying $14 through SportsBet but with a win on Saturday those odds are set to shorten.

Other early favourites for the 2010 Up And Coming Stakes include Peter Snowden’s Group 1 Champagne Stakes winning colt Skilled, the Gai Waterhouse-trained Brightexpectations and consistent Queensland gelding Buffering.

With so many classy colts and geldings entered for the Up And Coming Stakes, it should be one of the great early showdowns of the season and one of the most exciting betting markets as well.

The other headline events at Saturday’s Warwick Farm meeting worth a punt on are the $175,000 Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m) where the likes of Theseo, Metal Bender and Sniper’s Bullet will face off, and the $125,000 Group 3 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) featuring San Domenico Stakes winner Obsequious.
