This year as part of the prestigious Sydney Spring Racing Carnival, the Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes is scheduled to take place at Warwick Farm Racecourse on Saturday August 21.
Run over a 1200m sprint distance, the Up And Coming Stakes is open to three-year-old colts and geldings and is run under set weight conditions.
Worth $125,000 in prizemoney, the 2010 Up And Coming Stakes is sure to attract a quality field of three-year-old males heading towards some of the more prestigious sprint features during the season.
One of three Group status races at the meeting, Saturday the 21st is Warwick Farm’s sole race day during the spring carnival and so attracts a record number of bets.
The headline event at the meeting will be the Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m), while great betting action can also be found in the Group 3 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m), which is the fillies’ equivalent of the Up And Coming Stakes.
Many of the top colts and geldings that will be among the Up And Coming Stakes nominations will have previously contested the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m).
The 2010 San Domenico Stakes was held at Randwick on August 7 and was won by the Peter Snowden-trained Obsequious ahead of Solar Charged and Decision Time.
Keep an eye out for Decision Time in the Ladbrokes.com.au Up And Coming Stakes betting markets as the promising gelding is sure to be one of the favourites if entered.
Horses likely to be among the Up And Coming Stakes nominations for 2010 include Spirit Of Boom, Howdiddydoit and Buffering.
Don’t wait until August 21 to get in on the Up And Coming Stakes betting action.
